Harry Cassidy
[edit]Why did you speedy delete Harry Cassidy? You should have reverted it to when it was about a real person. Next time check the history!Homey 10:49, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- You are right and my mistake—I guess the combination of the vandalized article and the pet name ("Harry") in the Lemma threw me off. However, I did not speed-delete the article but merely put up the request. Maikel 16:15, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Re: Vandal
[edit]My pleasure. I just happened to run across a vandalized article at the right moment! That IP seems to be a grade school district, so I can't say I'm surprised that a lot of vandalism was coming from it. --Captaindan 13:21, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Re: Anon or test?
[edit]Most of us typically use the {{Test}} and {{Bv}} sequences for all vandals, anonymous or logged-in, but you are welcome to use {{Anon vandal}} as well. The test sequence is especially useful to me because it progresses from "did you mean to do that" to "please stop" to "last warning". They aren't reserved explicitly for logged-in users. School Pranks
[edit]I know it's kind of late, but...
Hi, the article List of school pranks has been targeted by the Wikipedia Thought Police™. Please help preserve this marvellous testament to human inventiveness—and cruelty—from certain extinction by voting Keep at the article's deletion page if you haven't already done so. May algid reason never reign supreme! Thanks, Maikel 15:21, 4 April 2006 (UTC) PS: This is a generic message that has been hand-posted to you as a former contributor—hope you won't mind.
Wikipedia discourages its editors from telling other people to vote Delete or Keep or anything else in an AfD. Just don't do it, end of story. If other people share your point if view then the article will be deleted anyways. Happy editing! Fredil Yupigo 03:08, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Do you have a reference on that? Maikel 18:35, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Tom and Jerry
[edit]Hello. I see you originally added the Onomastics section to Tom and Jerry (mixed drink). I thought you might like to return to this article and review the new information I located about the drink's history. Happy new year! --Willscrlt 06:02, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting! Thank you for notifying me. Happy new year to you, Maikel 19:34, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. Glad you enjoyed it. :-) --Willscrlt 21:37, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Bulletproof vest
[edit]Hi, I was just curious if there was a reason you deleted several references from the Bulletproof vest article. I haven't looked through all of them yet, but the first few seemed to be on topic and from reliable sources. --Onorem 11:30, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for asking, this is very strange!
- 1. I have deleted references to two institutions which were said to be currently developing "ultrastrong but ultralight" materials as they were nonencyclopedic and essentially advertising. Lots of institutions everywhere are developing lots of stuff, but noone can know in advance whether their efforts will come to fruition.
- 2. Those other changes ... are not mine. I didn't throw out the categories nor the references (<ref>), these edits are definitely not mine. This is VERY odd. I can only explain it with a inconsistency in the database. I also didn't change the "the late" bit.
- I'm puzzled. Maikel 11:47, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Gilbert_Shelton.GIF
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Gilbert_Shelton.GIF. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 11:00, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Sybian Link
[edit]I'm trying to restore a link you posted on the Sybian article, but user Ronz continues to remove it claiming that "Wikipedia is not a how to". What do you think about his reasoning? I personally find his explanation very weak so I'd like your support as I restore it once again. Buttysquirrel (talk) 19:45, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Lord of the Dance (hymn)
[edit]I'm sure your recent edits to Lord of the Dance (hymn) were good faith. But they lost a significant chunk of material and references that had shed some useful light on the hymn. So I have reverted the edit-set. Feline Hymnic (talk) 17:18, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your muted reaction and your feedback. You are absolutely entitled to the revert. I had actually copied the removed segment to the discussions page and gave a three-point argumentation why I had removed it. I see from the discussions page history that somehow this didn't register. Maybe I only previewed it but failed to save it. Drat! Maikel (talk) 19:55, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Copyright policy on external links
[edit]Dear Maikel. Thank you for your contribution to All You Zombies (song), but I'm afraid that the link to lyricwiki is not consistent with Wikipedia's copyright policy. When we add links to material on external sites, we must ensure that the site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. According to a March 2008 notice in their blog, Lyricwiki no longer pursues legal licensing. Like Youtube, it only removes lyrics if a DMCA take-down notice is filed by the artist. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. Wikipedia exercises all necessary diligence to ensure that we remain compliant with US copyright law.
If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, you might want to link to that site instead. Sites such as mtv.com have been gradually increasing the number of lyrics they display legally, with proper compensation to the artists. If these lyrics are not currently displayed there, perhaps eventually they will be. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:22, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/StealthNet. Orphaned non-free image File:Woodlore, J. Audubon.1.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Woodlore, J. Audubon.1.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
PLEASE NOTE:
- I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
- I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rolling shutter, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page SLR (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). May 2013
[edit]Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article, specifically Mickey Mouse universe, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Werieth (talk) 13:41, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The article Switch Music company has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:GNG. Refs are a product catalog and a Youtube vid. I can't find anything on this company on Google - not even a company homepage. Looks entirely non-notable.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Mbinebri (talk) 11:48, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
