Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of birthdays of rappers
Appearance
- Rationale for deletion: There should perhaps be a list of rappers (with birthdays), but listing birthdays of rappers like this is frivolous. In its present form it duplicates information that is available elsewhere (links to years in music and information about rappers).Mat-C 13:35, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC)

- Delete - a more complete List of rappers exists, and the information belongs on individual article pages. -- Cyrius|✎ 17:53, Apr 18, 2004 (UTC)

- Keep, or add the information to List of rappers. Potentially true that comparisons of age of rappers would be worthwhile. Yes, the information is redundant, but it's sometimes worth having redundancies if the information is organized and searchable in a different matter. In this case, the article can be used to get a particular type of information far more efficently than leaving it in the individual rapper articles would allow. Snowspinner 21:25, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. I've never really understood what this page was for, and I've stared at it blankly a couple of times. But it is idiotic. Rappers' birthdays should be included in their articles - the list of rappers is a bit difficult to handle (it's listed by first commercial crew a rapper was in... even if s/he didn't become famous until becoming a solo artist. Very wierd) and to be honest I don't think more than the birth year (and in Biggie, 2pac etc's case the year of death) belongs on the list. Pteron 04:14, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Delete -- this has come up for deletion before, I think, but was kept for some bizarre reason (FTR, list of rappers lists rappers more than once if they were part of more than one crew or part of a crew and a solo performer -- Ice T, for example, is on the list twice) Tuf-Kat 04:18, Apr 19, 2004 (UTC)
- That's even worse actually, as that means it's incongruent. Rappers as influential as Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, GZA or Ice Cube, to name just a few I noticed while browsing the list, are all just mentioned as members of their respective crews. List of rappers definitely needs some tweaking... Pteron 17:24, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)

- Comment - I know little of rap. But it seems to me that it is an evolving form, so some chronological sort might be of use. Ordering rappers by list of first album release would perhaps be more relevant. If the article were to be kept, I'd suggest renaming to List of rappers by date of birth. - Makes sense - we should definitely consider that for the future... But I still wish to stick to my delete for now. Pteron 17:19, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)

- Neutral. If you think of it more as "List of rappers, in order of birth" it does make some sense, especially if better fleshed out to cover what are now two generations, plus possible pre-history in the form of people like Gil Scott-Heron or The Last Poets. -- Jmabel 08:39, 22 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Merge with List of rappers, then delete. -- MGM 20:27, Apr 22, 2004 (UTC)
