[edit]Okay -- I made the article mainly with text from the 1911 Britannica -- I don't know much about his early life. But I think the Britannica article was WAY too kind about his handling of the situation in the Caucasus. Any other opinions? For now, I changed it around a bit, but I'd like to expand on his role in the HORRIBLE Dargo expedition. Okay. --The PNM 02:33, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov never was a Prince. Russian have ranks Prince, Knyaz, Graf, e.t.c. It is why better do not combine Prince and Knyaz - it is various possibilities and resposibilities. The Prince can be and Knyaz at the same time due to father (King or Tsar) can present any big region to own son, the big territory which will coincide the Knyaz renk and can be bigger if he is the Prince also. And not every Knyaz can be a Prince. Prince on Russian is the son of the Tsar or King. Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov never was a son of the Tsar or King. Vorontsov family are not the Tsat or King family. It is why he may not be a Prince. It is big mistake to call give the Prince rank to Vorontsov.
Vorontsov leaved Odessa in 1844 and joined Russian Army in Caucas mountains in 1845. He was a Graf before 1844 and he became a Knyaz from 1845. He back in Odessa in 1856 (or 1855) and was not a General-Governor in the last years, and soon died in 1856. When I read that somebody in Odessa had protection from the Vorontsov before 1845 it is means that protection was fron the Graf Vorontsov and not from the Knyaz Vorontsov.Грищук ЮН (talk) 05:57, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
