[edit]- "In this system, all citizens of a territory are entitled to stand for election in their electoral district"
How is this different from most democratic systems? — Trilobite (Talk) 20:13, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)

So, wait, let me get this straight...a Consensus government is...a government...that rule(s) based on consensus... ...Right...
Is there an active ban on political party activity, or is the government just indifferent to political parties? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.82.227.246 (talk) 18:58, August 27, 2007 (UTC)
It is down to apathy.
There are eight electoral districts with between six and eight representatives in each district with very high chances of winning a seat, for example in one district at the last election there were eight seats and 11 candidates - so you had a pretty good chance of being elected. the system is blighted by the low calibre of the candidates who stand for election meaning the government is usually incompetent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anarchisthans (talk • contribs) 21:07, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
This page is being edited by Guernsey politicians who oppose any crticism of the Guernsey's political system - it is a fact that consensus government is simply majority voting - it is not consensus decision making. Whoever is deleting these comments please explain why! It is a factual statement, not an opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anarchisthans (talk • contribs) 21:01, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
There are three good reasons to remove the text:
- It's obvious from the rest of the text, and it is explicitly stated already in the third paragraph. No one is trying to make it look like it is the same as consensus decision making.
- Stating that "it's a fact, stop removing it" in the text of the article is inappropriate and should be removed regardless of whether or not it's accurate.
- Wikipedia is not for the provision of facts, it's for the provision of verifiable information from third party sources. Whether or not the information is factual is not relevant.
