That doesn't seem likely. Considering that the Christians also thought that "Allahu Akbar" referred to Muslim worship of twin goddesses Allat and Akbar, I suppose anything is possible. Walter W. Skeat

In the article: "W. W. Skeat in the 19th century, speculated that the name was originally "Trivagante", meaning 'thrice wandering'" I think this refers to Skeat's notes to Chaucer's Tale of Sir Thopas. A mystery

Yes, Mahound is mentioned in the English mystery plays. But I challenge anybody to provide evidence of the use of Termagant. I have done some searches of the texts listed here and can find nothing. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:40, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Popular Culture

I'm not really clued up on how to add sections to articles, but might it be worth adding a popular culture section to this as the name Termagant has been used (though in a broadly unrelated to its original form) in at least a few modern works settings? Namely Terry Pratchets Carpet People includes a creature know as a Termagant that used to be worshipped as a god. Link for sources: https://wiki.lspace.org/Termagants
