[edit]I have seen his birthday listed elsewhere as 1933. Are we sure about the year? Dawhitfield 01:26, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
- The IMDb lists the year as 1932, so I'd go with that. — Frecklefoot | Talk 17:53, August 27, 2005 (UTC)
Cloak and Dagger
[edit]If anyone has seen the film Cloak and Dagger (and understands Russian), I would really like to know what the conversation is in the start at the start of teh film where Dabney Coleman trys to talk his way past a Russian gaurd then kills the gaurd with a poison cigarete. Ive been wondering what they were saying for over 20 years! (It involves a word that sounds like Speechcoo).
Speechcoo means cigarette in Russian.Vulturell 23:04, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
Missing reference to outer limits episode https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_359_(The_Outer_Limits) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.5.171.110 (talk) 05:44, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
Duplication in filmography
[edit]There's a lot of duplication in the filmography in this article: first in tables, separated into film and TV; and then again as a bulleted list, with film and TV combined. Is this intentional? If not, is everyone happy if I (or someone else) removes the bulleted list and adds any credits from there that are missing from the tables (and confirmed by reference to IMdB) to the tables? andrenafulva (talk) 13:54, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
Mary Hartman
[edit]It is surprising the body omits mention of his substantial role in "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman," easily the biggest thing he did prior to "9 to 5". A breakthrough role. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:CA10:18A0:DCB2:2EFD:44BE:DEAD (talk) 05:36, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- Anyone have a citation that refers to his time on this series as a breakthrough role, or other specific notices? Qflib, aka KeeYou Flib (talk) 15:22, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
Death?
[edit]At this hour, the only source indicating Mr. Coleman has died is WKRC, a TV station in Cincinnati Ohio, with no apparent connection to him.
However, radio silence from other entertainment sources. Hoax? DarkStarHarry (talk) 20:56, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- His death was initially reported by ExtraTV, who shortly after deleted it. This source says "reportedly", and doesn't really attribute an originating source. The lack of supporting reports and corroboration places this in a be patient spot and not update the page. Rusted AutoParts 21:07, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- I've semi-protected it on BLP grounds for 3 hours - that should be enough time to shake things out. SarekOfVulcan (talk) 21:13, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
Confirmed by his daughter now through Hollywood Reporter. Rusted AutoParts 21:34, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Children
[edit]Pallas129 keeps removing information cited to the Washington Post obituary as a "minor edit" and claims in an edit summary to be his daughter. I undid the change before seeing the edit summary claim, tried engaging on their talk page, but they removed it again. I tend to believe the Washington Post, but rather than edit warring over it, I left the shorter version simply listing his children, but restored the citation. I'm noting it here to hopefully avoid further reversions, and perhaps someone will know of another reliable source. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 04:53, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
Rotten Tomatoes and other unreliable sources
[edit]As per WP:ROTTENTOMATOES, Rotten Tomatoes is not a reliable source for biographical information, much like IMDB. As an example, the Dabney Coleman entry at RT lists his role as "Kevin Stolper" in Exiled: A Law & Order Movie, but reviews from reliable sources from 1998 state the name as "Dennis Stolper" and if you actually check the movie, which I did, it is definitely Dennis Stolper. What other sources have "Kevin Stolper"? IMDB. Here's the Exiled: A Law & Order Movie entry at IMDB and the Dabney Coleman entry at IMDB. The incorrect name has also been happily copied by an IP editor here, copied into the Exiled: A Law & Order Movie article at Fandom, copied into the Dabney Coleman entry at IMFDB, TV Tropes, and many other sites.
I think most if not all of Dabney Coleman's significant credits are already listed and have good sources, but if there are any significant roles that are not, creating clippings of newspapers.com articles that are contemporary to the work seem to be the most reliable option.
