Welcome to Esperanza!
Welcome, Webdinger/Archive1, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of KnowledgeOfSelf, JoanneB, FireFox and Titoxd. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Colorado government images
I'm not aware of any law that places the work of Colorado government employees in the public domain, which is why {{PD-COGov}} was redirected to {{No license}}. --Carnildo 08:01, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, Carnildo, I would like to direct you to the About this Website page on the State of Colorado website. The image of David Schultheis was found on a State House web page within the directory of the State of Colorado website. If you would like to change the template to the no license redirection again, that is fine. The Representative Schultheis image can be deleted, even though I personally believe it contributes quite a bit to the article. Thank you! — Webdinger BLAH | SZ 08:06, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- You're referring to "State agency authored documents are in the public domain."? I believe this only applies to things that are part of the public record. In any case, that doesn't apply to the image in question: the bottom of the web page it's on has a statement of "Private Home Page - NOT maintained by State of Colorado - maintained by individual legislator." --Carnildo 08:28, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the clarification. I will make changes accordingly. — Webdinger BLAH | SZ 17:38, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:David_Schultheis.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:David_Schultheis.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 12:52, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- BTW, you can still make a fair use claim on this photo. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 20:29, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, ChrisRuvolo, I'm not sure if it counts as fair use — please follow the URL that I gave with the image and help me out if you'd like. You might also want to read the section prior to this one. Thank you! — Webdinger BLAH | SZ 02:06, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- Fair use is use despite the license, or lack thereof. The above has little bearing on a fair use claim. Identifying photos are one of the uses that have come to be accepted by Wikipedia. Consider using {{Non-free fair use in}} or {{promophoto}} templates. Then add a fair use rationale to the image description page. For examples of other images using this kind of rationale, see Image:Nbc apprentice2 donald trump.jpeg or Image:MichaelBloomberg.jpg. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 03:33, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

The school IP
I did not make the longer block; User:Hallmonitor did, with the block message that an authorised representative from the school contact him or Wikimedia about having it removed. I still suggest you do so; I will remove the block for now, but if the vandalism resumes, then we will have to go back to that requirement. I hope you can manage to reign in the kids. --Golbez 02:21, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you! ;) I will attempt to contact administrators and higher officials within the school district regarding this issue. Webdinger BLAH | SZ 02:33, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Translations
Hello Webdinger. I must thank you for nice translation of these 3 mountain ranges of Colombia. It is very much appreciated. Thank you again. I will put to WP:TIE another 3 requests, all these three Cordilleras, but this time in Bolivia :}. Or should I ask you for translation ? - Darwinek 16:42, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll do them! And you're very welcome! — † Webdinger BLAH | SZ 16:43, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- Another important features are es:Cordillera Oriental (Bolivia) which should be Cordillera Oriental, Bolivia here. es:Cordillera Occidental (Bolivia) to Cordillera Occidental, Bolivia. And es:Cordillera Central (Bolivia) to Cordillera Central, Bolivia. Thank you very much. - Darwinek 18:09, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- Darwinek: I got Cordillera Oriental, Bolivia done if you'd like a look at it. I can work on the other two tomorrow because I am dead tired. No problem about the translating - I love having the opportunity to exercise what I've learned in Spanish class! — † Webdinger BLAH | SZ 05:41, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Your translation is very good as usual. It is sure that you learned good in Spanish class :). - Darwinek 08:29, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Darwinek: I've completed all of the translations. Feel free to have a look at them. — † Webdinger BLAH | SZ 00:39, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

My RFA
Thank you, Webdinger, for voting in my RFA. It closed with a final result of 75/1/0. Now that I am an administrator here, I will continue to improve this encyclopedia, using my new tools to revert vandalism, block persistent vandals, protect pages that have been vandalized intensively, and close AFD discussions. Any questions? Please contact me by adding a new section on my talk page. Again, thanks to all of you who participated!!! -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 23:16, 20 May 2006 (UTC) |

_ _ Editors are counselled against "biting the newcomers", and that includes offering praise along with any negative criticism. I don't recall finding the praise part so easy ever before! In the second of two edits to the same page, you showed unusual and quite quick grasp of the terseness that entries on LoPbN typically exhibit (and must have for the list as a whole to do its job efficiently).
_ _ (As i expect you'd soon notice on your own, the "low-resolution terminology" strives toward a style like "(fl. 1950s), American spelling competitor", and even a word shorter where the role occasioning notability can be encapsulated in a word like "[naval] sailor", "politician", or "writer".)
_ _ The rest of what it seems worth pointing out to you is not nearly as easy to infer: the list is for access to biographical articles, and thus for people notable enough to each have an article to themself. (IMO, it's not unthinkable to, e.g., provide for a different kind of entry, say italicized or undersized, for people mentioned but not bio'd. That need has not, however, been identified over the last 4 or 5 years, so someone (not i) would have to spearhead it, IMO at Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography.) For that reason, i'm removing that entry. And IMO it would be unthinkable to do so without giving an editor as manifestly conscientious as yourself an explanation longer than edit-summary fields accommodate. Thanks for contributing, and i hope to see more of your at WP.
--Jerzy•t 02:02, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will hereafter add only those articles with biographical significance to lists such as those. — † Webdinger BLAH | SZ 19:16, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
