The new image policy does not allow this type of license. You could try to make a fair use argument, perhaps. Rmhermen 13:38, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

British arctic territory

[edit]

I have moved British arctic territory to User:Ejrs/British arctic territory because it is written in a totally unencyclopedic style - "I" all over it. Now if this is a well established hoax in the real world, then it may qualify for a Wikipedia article but please write it in proper Wikipedia style. You have been around long enough - you should know what that is. -- RHaworth 04:16, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Spider01250.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. feydey 16:52, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Hanky1.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hanky1.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Unspecified source for Image:Hanky1.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hanky1.gif. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Indon (reply) — 09:37, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, Thanks for your concerns. Please allow me to clear up the matter. I took the pics myself. Anyone is free to use them as long as they credit me by adding a link back to http://malaysiawebsite.com Please note I am well aware of Copyrighting as I have copyrighted most of my projects with the patent and copyrights office. If You notice I have uploaded anything, I am the owner or I have full rights to publish images, articles etc. Have a great day.

Could you please be more specific for the link of the image source? Your link does not point to the image being questioned. — Indon (reply) — 10:11, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi, I saw that you have problems with linking the image, that you've uploaded, to its source. This is mostly the problem of notices you received after you have uploaded them. When you have uploaded them, in the summary section of the image page, you can create a link like this:

Source: [http://www.anysite.url/image_source.jpg]

The above is only an example. The most important thing is to link directly to the page that shows the image. Do not only link to the mainpage, as you did with EJRS.com. — Indon (reply) — 10:17, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am getting truly frustrated with the self-proclaimed Keepers of Wikipedia who have wrongfully been removing my links, images, etc. EJRS 17:09, 4 January 2007(UTC)ejrs

"wrongfully been removing my links" ..Your contributions to wikipedia consist of promotion and adding external links and is considered WP:Spam which is policy, as is Advertising and conflicts of interest. Looking through your contributions as a whole, the majority seem to be external link related only. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not your personal link farm.--Hu12 06:23, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The sites offer readers a lot more info not available on Wikipedia. Images, info etc given to me by Government bodies, organizations, education sector, private sector and people who have contributed to the projects. For example I added my link on cyberjaya as it has maps etc which were given to me by a government company. What I link to is aslways educational, supplementary to the articles on wikipedia. Links to webites are useful. Let people add their links. It helps. When you remove useful links it in no way helps people. EJRS 08:16, 23 January 2007 (UTC)ejrs[reply]

Image:Dalat.gif listed for deletion

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Dalat.gif has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —Pilotguy (ptt) 22:05, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Dalatschoolfront01.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dalatschoolfront01.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 03:40, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Front Gate Photo 009.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:30, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article had been copied from another website. This website's text was not released under the GFDL, which is a requirement for text on Wikipedia. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyrights. However, the subject probably doesn't meet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability either way.

Re : AfD/British Arctic Territory

[edit]

How would you consider the source you have provided to be a reliable one? - Mailer Diablo 11:33, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Flags of the World Database is much more reliable than a lot of info on wikipedia as it has professionals in the field of Vexillology. (Frankly it's a whole lot more reliable than the "Evolution of Man" theories which are forced upon us despite there being lack of supportive evidence - missing links etc.).

As you can see from the below link, the British Arctic Territory was setup by Clay Moss, (advisor to the former governor of one of the states in the US during the modifications of a few US state flags). He is on the committee of the Flags of the World Database.

http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/gb!bat.html

This project is used to teach kids in International schools about mock government and social studies.

I am working with Clay Moss on this project and the Vexillological projects to teach students about the world, their flags etc. EJRS

Hi

[edit]

Hi - I came across you user page when I was following a thread elsewhere. While user pages do not have the same rules as elsewhere on Wikipedia the section "Prejudices and Biased Editors" looks rather less than civil to me. Equally those of us who do not wish to do so do not use our real names on line.

I have therefore removed part of that section & I would ask you to respect the privacy of those of us who prefer that. Wikipedia & collaborative working take a little while to get used to and we all bring to it benefits from our real lives. However we also need to take care that we do not bring aspects that may well be seen as rather POV too. Please do remember that your user page is not yours, you are allowed to use it courtesy of the Foundation and that applies to us all.

Many thanks --Herby talk thyme 08:02, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ever since I started working on Wikis I found I preferred the transparency of on wiki communication & I rarely use email.
Working collaborative can be rather strange (as you have found). Not only do we have policies but we also have interpretations of policies and our own personal views of them & how they should be interpreted.
You pointed out that work of yours was removed and/or deleted. Looking above however it is clear that it is not just the two editors you mentioned on your user page that you have had difficulties with. In the end you may need to spend some time looking at that.
In passing I do find it a little odd that you have "Prejudices and Biased Editors" section while also having links to websites that you are involved with on both this page & your user page. This approach seems to me to draw attention to your interest in external sites (it is what caught my eye when I came across it). It is possible that the combination of the two (the links & the section) may point people towards an opinion of your interests which may not be correct. That also may be worth some thought. Speedy deletion of Zebrida adamsii

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Zebrida adamsii requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Unforgiven24 (talk) 03:46, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Mrgambus1.gif is missing evidence of permission. It is sourced to {{{source}}}, but while a copyright tag has been applied, there is no proof that the author agreed to license the file under the given license. In particular, the image itself carries a non free license, which is inconsistent with the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 License. Unless a link to a webpage with an explicit permission is provided, or an email from the copyright owner is sent or forwarded to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, the image will be deleted after Wednesday, 1 October 2008. Please remove this template if a link to a webpage with an explicit permission is provided, or a tag with an OTRS ticket number has been added. -- Suntag 13:27, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Thanks for uploading Image:Tn St. Chris Exchange 2007 011.jpg, which you've sourced to {{{source}}}. I noticed that that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

Fair use rationale for Image:Dalat.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dalat.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Suntag 13:51, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any of the pics uploaded by me were taken by me not others. I uploaded my pics and have added the appropriate tags and have even stated that they are free to be used on commercial/non commercial sites, non sites. They need only credit EJRS.COM for the images.EJRS 03:09, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
