Claim of jail "under" the square

[edit]

I've deleted the largely unsourced and/or non-significant trivia section ([1]). Only one point in that list seemed potentially noteworthy: "Uncorroborated reports claim that political activists have sometimes been imprisoned and abused in the police jail under Jamaa el Fna." The citation accompanying this statement was this, a communist news/blog site. I've found a similar report about the same activist here, from a Spanish (leftist?) political organization. There's no reason to doubt the imprisonment of this particular activist, but I'm not sure if Wikipedia would consider the sources reliable and this seems like something to include at Human rights in Morocco rather than here. A statement like "uncorroborated reports" sort of automatically implies by itself that it is WP:UNDUE. The details that relate to the Jemaa el-Fnaa are especially vague and difficult to support. Does the "jail under the Jemaa el-Fna" merely refer to the nearby police building? If so, a more fruitful approach might be to find more reliable sources that directly describe the police presence/infrastructure in the area. I couldn't find anything on any of these questions in other sources, but maybe there's something to find in local Arabic sources. R Prazeres (talk) 19:08, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
