Professor
[edit]- Is "Professor of the Sorbonne" a proper title, or is "Professor" meant generically here? I'm wondering if "Professor" ought to be capitalized. Cobra libre 18:54, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Andrei Sinyavsky.jpg
[edit]Image:Andrei Sinyavsky.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:35, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Books by Nina Voronel
[edit]According to books by Nina Voronel who knew Sinayvskiy family very well, Sinyavsky agreed to collaborate with KGB soon after his arrest (there are also publications by Khmelnitsky). I hate to include such things in this article, but probably someone will do it sooner or later...Biophys 04:17, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Volokhonsky and Pevear
[edit]In such a short article it seems ludicrous to have the longest single section be on a topic completely irrelevant to the subject of the article, namely his being "the catalyst for the formation of an important Russian-English translation team: Larissa Volokhonsky and Richard Pevear, who have translated a number of works by Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoyevski, Nikolai Gogol, Anton Chekhov, and Mikhail Bulgakov." That should be, if anything, a footnote to a much longer article. As it stands, it's just Pevear/Volokhonsky fanboyism run wild. Languagehat (talk) 15:58, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
Bibliography
[edit]The page omits the book "The Russian Intelligentsia", likely his last work since published in 1997 (Columbia University Press) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ammet88 (talk • contribs) 02:50, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
