There is currently a discussion at Talk:United States Navy, regarding the "Largest Navy in the world", comparing the USN to the PLAN, and edits regarding same to the leads of this article, the USN and the PLAN. (fyi) - wolf05:11, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The article is structured around the division of "Old Navy" and "New Navy", and it is also stated in the lead paragraph. However, there is no clear citation to support that periodization of history. For example, I don't see NHHC describes history of USN that way. --Happyseeu (talk) 01:24, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Could someone knowledgeable please add a section about the relationship of the Marines to the Navy (historical and current)? Obviously there is a LOT to be said about that. Also, "Marines" are mentioned several times in the history portions of this article, with no explanation of how they fit in with Navy personnel. Thanks!
