French Captain
[edit]Patrick vieira is now captain of the french team, since marcel desailly retired from the international side.
Inter Milan
[edit]He is NOT on Inter Milan. It is just a rumour. Please do not say he is on Inter until it is official.--michfan2123 02:23, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
I see how it is...my portion of the discussion can be callously deleted, but the fabricated "Manchester United Career?" section is perfectly fine. I guess we'll see what happens. http://www.soccer365.com/EUROPEAN_NEWS/Italy_News/page_179_124662.shtml
Vieira is just an POS on so many levels..
Family background
[edit]His surname is Portuguese origin, but is Cape Verde or Cap-Vert? Matthew_hk tc 05:00, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Donalé??
[edit]He's Patrick Paul Vieira per UEFA. What's that Donalé?? --necronudist (talk) 10:45, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Donalé might be his mother name...But associating mother and father names are very rare in France...--Latouffedisco (talk) 17:40, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- I have removed his middle name from the article entirely. I have done extensive searching online, and most of the places that have "Patrick Donale Vieira" appear to have taken their information from Wikipedia. Before I edited, someone had further changed it to "Patrick Donald Vieira", which is even less plausible: this Wikipedia page was literally the only searchable site on the internet which had the phrase "Patrick Donald Vieira". As for "Patrick Paul Vieira", I cannot find any corroborating sources beyond the UEFA booking sheet. While UEFA is ostensibly a reliable source, the fact that a UEFA booking sheet is pretty much the only place on the internet where his name appears as Patrick Paul Vieira suggests that it doesn't meet the threshold of credibility for this article. If any reliable and corroborated information comes to light, then someone is welcome to make that justification and insert a middle name - if indeed he has one. But until then, we should prefer to have just his first and last names, which convey sufficient information to be useful. Cyril Washbrook (talk) 02:33, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
