You're a sysop!
[edit]Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on Votes for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.
Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»=Please also add your name to WP:LA =Nichalp «Talk»= 18:42, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

I noticed that you gave this user several warnings. I have been monitoring edits from the 4.242.*.* address's for some time now. Every edit from this this series of address's appears to be made by the same person. Fortunatly they seem to always hit the same two articles first which are Circuit City and Pumpkin Pie. This makes it easy to see when this vandal is active. The problem with their other edits is that they are very sutble. Very few are legit, (see Round) but most such as Days of the New II are harder to notice. The edits are to numbers in the article and are almost always vadalistic in nature. I have taken to reverting all number edits by this person and I have also been blocking this user as soon as they make one edit. Again because they usually hit Circuit City or Pumpkin Pie first it's easy to see that it's the same person. So far they have not complained about being blocked after one edit. Cheers. Apartments photo
[edit]I altered your photo and uploaded the result, with the same copyright notice. The intent was to lighten the foreground, crop out the sky, and make the building look larger in the frame. The contrast is lower and the blacks weak, but for the Housing in Japan article those might be acceptable sacrifices? See whether you like the result.
- I see your point. I can't help but fiddle with photos. This time I decreased the size to match the original more closely; blur caused by my enlarging your original went away. I then sharpened it and uploaded it again. Also, I've switched from gallery comparison to something closer to the size they appear in the article. Anyhow, I'll quit there! Maybe skies will be clear tomorrow. In any case, thanks for your photo. Fg2 11:24, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
- The latest one really gets the point across. It's all apartment. I put it in the article. Thanks! Fg2 09:02, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

IP 67.86.8.154 continued vandalism
[edit]Thank you for placing the warning on anon user 67.86.8.154; unfortunately, this has not deterred the person from continuing to re-instert the vandalism/Original Research into Lost (TV series)-related articles, particularly in the Shannon Rutherford article [1]. I've placed a notice on the Talk:Shannon Rutherford page, but the user has repeatedly ignored the efforts of many editors. Please consider blocking the user. — LeFlyman 19:47, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
- I appreciate the response. The IP has long past violated the 3RR, having re-vandalised the same article with his pet theory nearly a dozen times since yesterday [2]. Additionally, he's vandalised another article since being warned [3]. The IP needs to be blocked, as he is plainly ignoring WP policy and requests/work of others. —LeFlyman 02:06, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
Vandalbots
[edit]I put that page up in a hurry, so I didn't have time to explain it. All of them were blocked by Fvw's POPbot- he unblocked them because people complained about a bot auto-blocking proxies. Look at the contribs- if they edited a page that has "POPbot", "Fvw", or something of the sort in it, it's a proxy (the bot automatically edits that page to prove it's a proxy) Ral315 (talk) 22:37, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

vandal
[edit]I noticed you warned ip 68.198.139.128 for vandalism of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamiya_Clod_Buster about three weeks ago. Since then this same person under this ip address and various other ip addresses have vandalised that same page by removing qualified links and replacing them with his/her own. This ip has also gone to the point of removing all content from that page and putting just his link. If you could do anything about this it would be greatly appreciated as i've gotten to the point of reverting this page multiple times a day. This ip has been banned for short periods of time but that obviously doesn't work. Thanks!

Concerning anon 204.218.244.11
[edit]Imagine my surprise after seeing the "user is blocked screen" yet again for the 10th time...I had been speculating as to why I was being blocked when I tried to edit at my school, so I decided to look at the Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress/IP Severe page, and I saw the IP address... I was unaware that so much vandalism had gone on at my school, and I apologize for my peers' unacceptable, useless and immature behavior... As a wikipedian that frequently only makes constructive edits at that school, I am appalled that I and other users must be blocked when we edit in good faith. In response, I would like to take up "the slack" for my peers' actions- I will add the school's IP page and various "contribution" pages to my watchlist, and I shall revert vandalism upon site, so that (hopefully) I can continue to edit in good faith without being blocked, please tell me what you think of the idea. Ukraïnski Vistupi
[edit]Thank you for watching the Ukraïnski Vistupi v Johna Peela article. The album has two titles, kind of, but its main title clearly is the one in the Ukrainian alphabet (the transliteration only appears on the LP's spine and the back of the accompanying booklet). I was in two minds which title/alphabet to use, but went the same way as the person who wrote the article on the Billy Joel КОНЦЕРТ album, which has a Russian language title only (and a redirect to its from its most "popular" mis-read, "KOHUEPT"). Perhaps this should be transliterated as well? Curt Woyte 10:46, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
- You're right, of course. The way I see it, there are two options: (1) transliterate the title into Latin alphabet, yielding "Ukrayinski Vystupy v Ivana Pila" or (2) use the alternate title already provided on the sleeve "Ukraïnski Vistupi v Johna Peela", even though that is slightly incorrect in terms of transliteration. As the album has a Latin-alphabet alternative, I'm for using option (2) and so will stand by your reversion. As for КОНЦЕРТ, that's something else entirely as the album has no Latin-alphabet alternate/sub-title. The Wikipedia guidelines suggest "Kontsert" I guess. — BTW, I'm copying this entire discussion of ours to the article's talk page, to make sure future editors know we've discussed it. – Curt Woyte 11:43, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip about Tatas..and sorry
[edit]No worries
[edit]...about the block. As you say, in future any blocks done against that account should be short in duration. The Scott Keith vandalism was probably a one off. Cheers Banes 05:44, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Humanism Category
[edit]Hey MC, a minor deal, but I saw that HFH was added to the "Humanism" category. I though that was a bit bizarre since that label applies mostly applies to individuals and not sure Habitat would want to be classified in that one anyway (although probably not intended as negative). What do you think about that one?
I suggested deleting this project on Wikipedia talk:Japanese Collaboration of the Week. I firmly believe that sometimes, it is necessary to kill a project that does not get results to save work and attetion for those that do. Since you were one of the few people who posted there recently, I would like to hear your opinion. -- Mkill 22:54, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
humanists
[edit]it looks like i misclicked on humanists. I think i was aiming at the founders of humanism. the problem that we faced is that we used to have 'list of humanists' and some gentleman decided to use his arbitrary decisions to say x is a humanist or not., so... i decided to move them all to categories:humanists, which was supposed to hit the founders of Habitat for humanity. feel free to fix... --Buridan 01:30, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Chinese history
[edit]Hey I think you are good with the Chinese history so could you possibly look to confirm/modify/elaborate/etc on the topics of Pirooz and Narsieh? They were son & grandson of Yazdgerd III the last king of the Sassanid empire. It is generally believed that they moved to China (in the Xinjiang region) with the much of the monarch family after the Arab conquest of Persia.
Sorry if I am contacting the wrong person, please do tell me if you know anyone or anywhere else I could get help with this.

Amphibious Warfare
[edit]MasterChef - was reading Amphibious warfare and noticed the post about an intention to make an article on 'littoral warfar'. Two points if I may, first the amphib page is laking information on the strategy and doctrine of amphibious warfare, I'm intending to look into it but ATM don't have any references that are helpful. Second, littoral combat describes warfare in the area where actions at sea impact on the land and vice versa. Amphibious operations are a type of littoral warfare but litoral warfare is more broad a concept. A gunboat sitting just outside a harbour showing the flag is involved in littoral power projection, likewise a carrier (usu. considered a blue water asset) sitting miles offshore sending its planes up to bomb downtown Freedonia. Its an area which does require a page, but would probably require the work of a maritime strategic expert. Feel free to reply on my talk page. Inane Imp 00:15, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hiya MasterChef,
I stumbled upon your Uyghur Wikiproject while perusing Xinjiang related articles here. I'd love to join, but after taking a gander at the page's history, it seems like the project has been pretty dormant for a while. Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity
[edit]Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.
