Hi, I've noticed that all of the articles that use this template have some stray text up at the top that just reads "popofyear" (ex: the top of Bern), regardless of whether or not the article is using that parameter in the infobox call. It's definitely within this line of code:
That was me trying to fix something. My apologies for the excessive edits today; there was some extremely unusual testing going on in and around the check for unknown parameters, and I had to look through the edits and edit summaries one by one until I figured it out. The category is passed whenever |population=/|populationof= is used. If you omit the parameter set then it autofills it from the same template. There's no way the infobox can tell whether its input comes from a template. * Pppery *it has begun...03:19, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
